Rolf method of structural integration.
"Structural Integration" is a system of body alignment and balancing. Practitioners use their hands to
manipulate the myofascia (connective tissue) around muscles and bones,
sculpting parts back to where they were designed to function optimally.
In a Basic Series of 10 sessions a person undergoes transformative changes in
how their body looks, feels and performs. An Advanced Series of 5 sessions uses more sophisticated positions and movements
to deepen and perfect the process. Some clients need periodic maintenance due
to high physical demands of jobs, athletics or injuries.
Each session includes a history of symptoms, injuries and analysis of posture
and movement patterns. Movement education explores faulty habitual use patterns
and replace them with more efficient activities of daily living. Other kinds of
education or counseling may occur as needed. The result is a feeling of lightness, expansion and fluidity. Walking, standing
and sitting become effortless.
With these positive physical changes, there is an improvement in the client's
attitude and self image as old patterns of pain and limitation are released.
Suppressed trauma and painful memory may surface from a person's history so they can be processed and healed.
Breathing and visualization techniques create a body-mind connection.
Dia Lynn trained in Boulder, Colorado in 1977 with Dr. Ida Rolf (deceased 1979),
Peter Melchior and Emmett Hutchins and Movement training with Judith Aston
(Aston at the Rolf Institute Patterning). Dia completed advanced training in
1981. Dia has had full time practices in California, Arizona, Colorado and
Hawaii. Dia is a member of Guild for Structural Integration in Boulder Colo.
